VOLUNTEER FAQs

Do I need prior experience to volunteer?
No! We provide you with gear and training at no cost to you.

Is there an age requirement?
Junior firefighters must be 16 or 17 to join. All other positions are 18 or older.

Will I be paid?
CPFD is a primarily volunteer organization, so the positions are unpaid.

How much time will I spend volunteering?
Volunteers train twice a month at the station and with our mutual aid departments. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend the best fire and EMS academies in the state to learn the latest skills and earn your Firefighter I certification.

Can I volunteer without responding to emergencies?
Yes! You can volunteer as fire police to help with traffic control or our ladies auxiliary to staff events.

How do I sign up to volunteer?
You can express interest in volunteering by filling out a no-obligation form on the JOIN US page. A member of our recruitment committee will contact you shortly to tell you more about CPFD and answer any questions.

The fire service is a great place to be. It made me a better person and helped me keep my grades up in school.
